This was an incredible journey that provided our family (with two teenagers) with immense perspective. The treks in Pu Luong were rewarding, and the views from Moc Chau’s tea plantations were stunning. The highlight for the kids was the Rong May Glass Bridge and Fansipan. We were guests in the home of a Thai family in Mai Chau, and their graciousness despite their limited means was moving. The need for economic development is visible, and we actively sought out local crafts and produce, hoping our spending directly supports their enduring cultural practice. The pace was perfect for our older children.

The scale of the terraced rice fields and mountain ranges truly rivals anything we’ve seen in the Himalayas.
